When I learned Mission Farms was hosting a Silent Disco, I had to go! I’ve always wanted to go to one. I was thrilled when they agreed to a partnership. This post is part of that paid partnership.
I grew up near Mission Farms back when it still had horses. I wasn’t quite fancy enough to ride there myself, but I went to summer day camp in the park nearby, and I love enjoying all the great restaurants there now.
Dinner and Drinks
There are 7 different awesome places to eat at Mission Farms! My parents pretty much eat at Tavern once a week, and they also enjoy Rye. I love joining them when I can.
Martin City Brewery Pizza and Tavern
For the Dine and Dance event, I wanted to try Martin City Brewery Pizza and Tavern. My husband loves getting drinks and pizza at one of the other locations, so I thought it would be a great place to meet up with some friends and family before the silent disco.
What did we enjoy at Martin City Brewery?
- Stone-fired pizza with the best cheese, the kind that stretches 2-foot long when you pull out that first piece
- Live music
- 16 craft beers on tap and cocktails like flavored mules and Aperol Palomas
- Desserts like beeramisu, carrot cake, and raspberry cheesecake

Silent Disco at the Reaching Sculpture
We had a blast dancing around the Reaching sculpture. This sculpture looks especially amazing after dark. It’s part of the city of Leawood’s art in public spaces initiative. Not only is it beautifully illuminated, but you can go inside it.
A silent disco is where you have a DJ (DJ Stann in this case) playing 3 channels of music simultaneously. Everyone has headphones, and they can click between the 3 channels. It’s fun seeing the different dance styles happening all at once. This event was a partnership between the City of Leawood Arts, Recreation, and Arts and Mission Farms. The beautiful lights from the sculpture was the perfect backdrop for this unique event.
